Celebrities took to social media Wednesday to react to the jury verdict in Johnny Depp’s favor, which found that Amber Heard had defamed him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
After the verdict was made public, celebrities and conservative commentators, like former “The View” co-host Meghan McCain, shared their reactions to the jury finding that the “Aquaman” actress had knowingly defamed the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, awarding Depp $15 million. The jury also awarded Heard $2 million for her defamation claim.

The host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast and former Fox News host Megyn Kelly wrote on social media that it was a “total defeat” for Heard, and that the jury found the actress “maliciously tried to destroy [Depp].”

“All the jury did for her was say Depp misled about her messing up a hotel room,” Kelly added in another post. “THEY REJECTED VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING SHE TESTIFIED TO. That she’s been lying about Depp for years. That she maliciously tried to destroy him.”

One fact that clearly emerged from the trial: the Amber Heard op-ed in the @washingtonpost that the jury just found defamed Johnny Depp was ghost-written by @ACLU, after Heard promised to pay them $7 million (a promise she never fulfilled).

Depp released a statement afterwards saying, “The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
“From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome,” the statement added. “Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.”
Heard released a statement on Instagram and shared that she was “heartbroken,” as The Daily Wire previously reported.
“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words,” Heard wrote in part. “I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”
The jury awarded Depp $15 million in monetary damages for Heard defaming him in the op-ed, as previously reported. The actress was awarded $2 million over statements Depp lawyer Adam Waldman wrote about her allegedly intentionally messing up her apartment to stage a hoax against the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” star.
