Actor Gary Busey responded on Monday to claims that he engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior during a recent Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Busey spoke briefly with a celebrity reporter at a gas station, and he claimed that none of the things he was accused of doing had actually happened.
The TMZ cameraman approached Busey as he went to pump gas, asking whether the actor could respond to the accusations against him — one woman claimed he had attempted to unhook her bra during a meet and greet session at the convention, and at least one other woman claimed he had grabbed her butt.
For a moment, Busey appeared to be ignoring the questions — but then he informed the cameraman that he was having trouble hearing.
“Do you have any regrets?” the cameraman asked.
“No, I don’t carry any regrets with me ever,” Busey replied.
The cameraman asked again about the event, which took place from August 12-14 in a Philadelphia suburb.
“What happened at the event — the women said you groped them …”
“Nothing happened,” Busey shot back.
“It’s not true?”
“None of that happened,” he repeated, going on to say that he was only in the room with his accusers for seconds — and seemed to suggest that there were witnesses present who would confirm his side of the story.
“I was — there was my partner, a camera lady, and me, and two girls … it took less than ten seconds, and then they left,” Busey explained. “Then they made up this story that I assaulted them sexually when I did not.”
Busey was charged on Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. Cherry Hill police later confirmed that the alleged crimes involved “touching,” and subsequent reports revealed more details.
In addition to those charges — for which Busey is expected to face arraignment on August 31 — the actor was spotted in Malibu, California, sitting on a park bench with his pants pulled down. He reportedly stuck one hand down the front of his pants while looking around to make sure that no one was watching — after which he stood up, pulled up his pants, and lit a cigar.
