Winsome Sears, a Marine Corps veteran, pulled out a historic win on Tuesday to become the first woman — and first woman of color — to be elected Virginia’s lieutenant governor.

“I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream,” Sears said in her victory speech early Wednesday morning.

“When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me, I was willing, willing, to die for this country,” Sears said before leading the crowd of supporters in a “USA” chant.

But members of “The Squad” — a diverse group of female Democratic lawmakers — ignored Sears altogether when they praised women who won races on Election Day.

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Cori Bush (D-MO), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) put out various statements and posts on social media on liberal candidates from minority racial backgrounds who were elected. But not one of them mentioned Sears.

Fox News reached out to the press secretaries of the lawmakers requesting comment, but “none of the spokespeople responded to the requests by close of business Wednesday.”

Fox also “examined the Twitter feeds belonging to the Squad members and also found no tweets concerning Sears’ historic win, despite their history of supporting other women and women of color running for office,” the news outlet said.

But Tlaib did tweet about other black politicians who won on Tuesday, saying the wins were “incredible.”

And Pressley’s Twitter account praised the Boston election of Michelle Wu, who will be the city’s first woman and first person of color to be elected mayor, “Activist, advocate, sister-in-service, partner-in-good, Boston City Councilor, mother, MAYOR OF BOSTON. Congratulations @wutrain. Boston is ready for you,” Pressley tweeted of Wu, who is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants.

On Wednesday, Omar tweeted support for Aisha Chughtai, who became the first Asian American Muslim elected to Minneapolis City Council. “Historic night for American Muslims across the country. Mabruuk!” she wrote.

Sears gave a powerful, patriotic speech after her win.

“In case you haven’t noticed, I am black. And I have been black all my life, but that’s not what this is about,” she said.

“What we are going to do now is be about the business of the Commonwealth,” Sears said. “We have things to tend to. We are going to fully fund our historically black colleges and universities. We’re going to have safer neighborhoods, safer communities, and our children are going to get a good education.”

Sears immigrated to the United States from Jamaica as a child. When she grew up, she served as director of a Salvation Army homeless shelter before entering politics. She served a single term in Virginia’s House of Delegates from 2002 to 2004 before opening an appliance and plumbing repair store in Virginia. Sears also previously served as vice president of the Virginia Board of Education.
