Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter has released another statement condemning China for its human rights violations.
This time, Kanter spoke about China’s treatment of Taiwan, insisting the island nation is “not a part of China.”
My message to all freedom supporters watching this today is:
We are stronger together.
We must all #StandWithTaiwan,
support Taiwan, and defend democracy.
We must keep Taiwan free and safe.Taiwan belongs to the TAIWANESE people!#IslandOfResilience pic.twitter.com/r925kNm2fY

“Taiwan is a democratic and free country, and I stand with Taiwan,” Kanter added in a video posted to Twitter. “Did you know that even though Taiwan has their own history, their own government, their own land, their own elections, their own everything, Xi Jinping is stuck in his own world.”
“[Jinping] claims Taiwan is a part of China and consistently threatens to invade Taiwan,” Kanter continued. “The country’s 24 million Taiwanese people just want to live peacefully and freely. They cherish freedom, human rights, and democracy. Taiwan is a force for good.”
“What the Chinese government is doing to Taiwan is even more proof that Xi Jinping and the Chinese regime are a threat to freedoms everywhere,” Kanter added. “We see what they are doing to Tibetans, to Uyghurs, Hong Kongers. Taiwan is now at the frontlines against China’s dictatorship.”
Finally, Kanter delivered a message to everyone watching: “My message to all freedom supporters watching this today is we are stronger together. We must all stand with Taiwan, support Taiwan, and defend democracy. We must keep Taiwan free and safe. Taiwan is already independent and I believe and hope the country will be free and democratic forever. The future of Taiwan must be determined by the Taiwanese people.”
As The Daily Wire has reported, Kanter has released multiple videos calling out the Chinese Communist regime’s human rights violations, including a video in late October where he called Chinese President Jinping a “heartless dictator.”
“Right now as I speak this message, torture, rape, forced abortions, sterilizations, family separations, arbitrary detentions, concentration camps, political reeducation, forced labor,” Kanter said. “This is all happening right now to more than 1.8 million Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region in northwestern China.”
“Uyghurs are a Turkish Muslim ethnic group, native to Uyghur region,” Kanter continued. “The Chinese government has been taking sweeping measures to crackdown on the Uyghur people simply because they embrace their own religion, their own culture, language, history and identity. The Uyghur region has become an open-air prison and surveillance state where freedoms are non-existent for the Uyghur people.”
In an earlier video, Kanter called out Nike and invited LeBron James and Michael Jordan to visit China’s “slave labor camps.”
“Your company says that you’re making a positive impact in our communities,” Kanter said. “And that is true. Yes, you are. Here, in the United States, Nike stands with Black Lives Matter. Nike stands with Stop Asian Hate. Nike stands with the Latino community. And Nike stands with the LGBTQ community … But when it comes to China, Nike remains silent.”
“You do not address [police brutality] in China, you do not speak about discrimination against the LGBTQ community, you do not say a word about the oppression of minorities in China. You are scared to speak up,” he added.
