Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three convicted sex offenders last week, according to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) media release on Wednesday, as the border crisis continues to grow.
The three separate arrests in the sector each included convicted sex offenders who had been removed from the U.S. following past convictions.
On November 25, Carrizo Springs Station agents arrested a migrant entering from Mexico who had been removed from the U.S. in June 2019. The male migrant “was previously convicted in Texas of injury to a child with intent of bodily injury and sentenced to three years confinement in 2013,” according to the report.
A second convicted sex offender from Nicaragua was arrested the following day. The male migrant had been “convicted of non-responsive cruelty to a juvenile in Louisiana and sentenced to eight years hard labor, which was later suspended.” The man had been deported in 2019.
The third arrest on November 27 involved Brackettville Station Border Patrol agents who caught a member of the Paisa Gang. The migrant had been convicted of sex with a minor under the age of 16 in 2001, in addition to additional arrests. The Mexican sex offender was removed from the U.S. in August 2021.
The past Fiscal Year, covering October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021, has included encounters in the Del Rio Sector from 106 countries, according to the media release.
In October, 28,111 undocumented migrants from 50 countries were reported in the sector.
The Del Rio Sector currently continues to experience more than 1,000 encounters per day, according to Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens.
“A typical day at the office in the Del Rio Sector… A group of 107 migrants was encountered yesterday in Eagle Pass, consisting of 103 Venezuelans, 3 Colombians, and 1 Nicaraguan national,” Owens tweeted on Tuesday.

In addition to convicted sex offenders, the Del Rio Sector Border Patrol continues to encounter large groups of migrants seeking to cross the southern border. On November 4, a group of more than 100 undocumented migrants was apprehended near Eagle Pass, Texas.
The large group mostly consisted of migrants from Colombia and Venezuela, including numerous children. Border Patrol agents responded after being informed of the caravan crossing near the town.
The Del Rio Sector drew the attention of the nation in September when up to 14,000 mostly Haitian migrants gathered under the Del Rio International Bridge after crossing the Rio Grande River.
As The Daily Wire previously reported, more than 10,000 illegal immigrants set up camp under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas back in September. Some estimates put the number closer to 14,000.
“The new crisis in Del Rio comes amid back-to-back months of Border Patrol recording well over 200,000 encounters with illegal aliens on the U.S. Southern Border,” The Daily Wire reported at the time.
More than 164,000 illegal immigrants crossed the southern border in October. More than 1.7 million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border of the U.S. in the last 12 months.
