Tucker Carlson brushed off a contentious interview Thursday in which a left-wing journalist grilled him about racism, telling The Daily Wire it’s white liberals he can’t stomach.
Ben Smith, a former New York Times media columnist and the founder of a news site called Semafor, called the Fox News host’s views “disturbing” and asked him point-blank if he is a racist. The interview, which began with a plea from Smith not to “steamroll me,” went off the rails quickly
“Do you believe white people are superior to other races?” asked Smith.
“No, of course not,” Carlson, who took part in the interview via Zoom, replied.

When Smith rephrased his question, asking Carlson if he thinks “white people have some claim on America that people of other races don’t,” Carlson took off the gloves.
“Of course not,” Carlson said. “First of all, I’m a Christian, so I believe God made everyone with value in His eyes. The essential value of every person is the same.”
Carlson later told The Daily Wire he’s come to expect such loaded questions.
“When some brittle 38-year-old New York Times reporter with a desperately unhappy personal life starts screaming about how I don’t like black people, I always think to myself, ‘Actually, you’re the one I don’t like,’” Carlson said. The first thing white liberals do when you criticize them is call you racist. It’s pretty funny when you think about it.”
Carlson carefully explained to Smith precisely who he has a beef with.
“If you read my mind,” he said, “you would see that 100% of the people I’m mad at are well-educated white liberals.
“In my mind, the sort of archetype of a person I don’t like is a 38-year-old female white lawyer with a barren personal life,” he continued.
Smith returned to a theme several of Carlson’s critics have used to assail Carlson: His alleged support for “replacement theory.”
While an old anti-Semitic trope known by the term claims that Jews are trying to change the demographics of America for nefarious purposes, some have conflated that with a more substantiated claim that some Democrats support open borders in the hope of changing America’s electorate.
“The language of replacement theory, which you popularized — the language of replacement theory is, like, specifically the language used by neo-Nazis to recruit people to their cause,” Smith said.
But the left has for years claimed that increased immigration from the third world would deliver a Democrat majority. Liberal authors John Judis and Ruy Teixeira made the claim in the 2002 book, “The Emerging Democratic Majority.”
As far back as 2015, future President Joe Biden said that by 2017, “fewer than 50% of the people in America . . . will be white European stock” and adding, “that’s a source of our strength.”
