PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor was mocked online following President Joe Biden’s press conference on Wednesday for her lavish praise of Biden’s performance while he was widely criticized by many others.

Alcindor’s remarks come after Biden faced backlash over remarks that he made about Russia and Ukraine, his alleged accomplishments in office, snapping at a reporter, his widely criticized pullout from Afghanistan, his mental fitness for office, and his claim that elections might not be legitimate if his voting agenda is not passed.

“Pres Biden, in the longest news conference in presidential history,” she claimed, “made news, pushed back on critics, called out lies, took responsibility for mistakes he believes he made, expressed surprise at GOP, talked foreign policy and didn’t lash out on reporters. Quite the change.”

“There is so much to say about Pres Biden’s presser,” she continued. The thing that sticks w/ me is that he took responsibility for mistakes he believes he made, expressed genuine frustration w/ COVID & his agenda being stalled by GOP and Democrats & took hard questions without insulting folks.”

Alcindor received mockery from right-wing, centrist, and left-wing journalists and political commentators over the tweets.

  • Glenn Greenwald, journalist: “Not even Jen Psaki would be willing to write something so gushing and propagandistic. As I said when she was hired by NBC, the more out in the open they are about their absolute loyalty to the Democratic Party, the better: the more people will see what their real function is.”
  • Mollie Hemingway, The Federalist: “The debasement and brazen lies of the corrupt propagandists of the White House press corps on full display. Take a bow, Yamiche.”
  • Dan O’Donnell, radio host: “Yamiche, you are truly the best White House Press Secretary ever! You brilliantly speak for the President and make him sound spectacular. What’s that? You’re not the Press Secretary? You’re what? An objective reporter? Oh…”
  • Tom Shattuck, radio host: “A real reporter would be concerned that the lashing out had stopped.”
  • Jeryl Bier, journalist: “Quite the change from…? He’s been president for a year now.”
  • David Reaboi, political commentator: “He’s not gonna sleep with you. In fact, he’s already asleep.”
  • Jerry Dunleavy, The Washington Examiner: “A Mona Lisa-esque tweet ruined only by the glaring lack of an Oxford comma.”
  • Nate Hochman, National Review: “I would love to hear a coherent argument for why we should continue to fund PBS when Yamiche Alcindor is the face of their news department lol.”

The press conference comes as Biden has seen his poll numbers sink in recent weeks to as low as 33% in a left-of-center mainstream poll.
