Meghan McCain slammed what she labeled the “biggest and worst lie” she said her generation was sold, and that was that being a mother is a “burden.”

“The biggest and worst lie my generation was ever sold is that motherhood is a burden and something you could take or leave,” the 37-year-old former co-host of “The View” tweeted Thursday to her hundreds of thousands of followers.

“But nothing in my life compares to being Liberty’s mom – the sheer joy, fulfillment, privilege it is. [And] I’ve experienced A LOT of amazing/surreal things.”

The former Fox News host didn’t explain what inspired her remarks, but she has shared comments on her Twitter and Instagram in the past about how much being a mother to her and husband Ben Domenech’s daughter means to her.

In May 2021, McCain celebrated her new motherhood after giving birth to her daughter Liberty Sage in September 2020.

“My first Mother’s Day,” McCain captioned her post. “The greatest joy and unfathomable bliss of life is being her mother ~ ‘where Liberty dwells, there is my country.’”

Months before, she posted another message on Instagram and admitted that having her daughter has answered so many questions she’s always had about about being a human in this “wild life.”

“I am not a poet nor an artists – so I cannot fully express the ecstasy of motherhood,” the former ABC talk show co-host shared. “However, I will say having a daughter answers every existential and ontological question a human being confronts in this wild life. Ben and I have been so indescribably blessed and experienced nothing but an embarrassment of bliss since having Liberty.”

McCain has been very open on social media about her life as a mom, her pregnancy, and even thinking the miscarriage she and her husband suffered before she became pregnant with Liberty might have meant she wasn’t supposed to be a mother.

“I pray to God and I pray to my dad when I’m going through hard times,” the Daily Mail columnist shared, reported People magazine previously. “I do both, which maybe sounds weird, but I just feel like my dad’s in heaven and I find comfort in praying and asking him for advice.”

“I was like, ‘Please make this decision for me … because I’m OK with being able to have kids or not being able to have kids, I just want to have some kind of resolution,’” she added. “And then I got pregnant really soon after, and I found out I was pregnant right after I had gone home to Arizona for the first time since he [my dad] died.”

Meghan and Domenech got married in 2017.
