Actress Vanessa Hudgens made quite an appearance Monday when she showed up in basically her underwear in a totally see-through black gown at the 2022 Met Gala in New York City.

The 33-year-old actress was hard to miss when she walked the red carpet at the annual celebration this year titled “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The revealing black number can be seen here. In the photos that surfaced on social media, the “High School Musical” star is seen wearing a long-sleeve, floor-length gown that was made of completely sheer black fabric throughout. The dress had a high-collar and puff sleeves with a daring black embroidered pattern across the chest. The dress also was made up of a long flowing skirt that was see-through with the actress wearing black lace bikini briefs to top of the look

She completed her outfit with her hair pulled up into a bun, jewelry and black high-heel platform shoes.

The actress’ attire was just one that stood out being worn by a host of celebrities in the modeling, movies and music world, just to name a few. The evening’s theme this year was “Gilded Glamour,” per the description on Anna Wintour’s invitation, reported People magazine.

The odd fashion at the 2022 Met Gala did not escape many, including Daily Wire’s own Matt Walsh who noted one person looked as though they were wearing something that resembled a “diseased bird.”

“This is a beautiful dress for anyone who wants to go out in public looking like a diseased bird,” Walsh tweeted to his hundreds of thousands of followers.

His post included a clip of Netflix’s “Derry Girls” Nicola Coughlan wearing a pink black and satin floor-length number complete with pink and black feathers randomly scattered all over the dress.

This year’s event, which is attended by the richest and most famous celebrities from fashion to politics, has many critics calling out the “tone-deaf” nature of theme, comparing it to something right out of “The Hunger Games,” as previously reported by the Daily Wire.

“Gilded Glamour? They’re begging for the pitchforks, aren’t they?” RealClearPolitics co-founder and president Tom Bevan tweeted.

“I don’t see the word Equity here anywhere,” Washington Free Beacon contributor Noah Pollak added.

Amy Curtis joined a number of Twitter users who referenced “The Hunger Games,” adding, “We are living in Panem.”

Senior writer for RealClear Investigations, Mark Hemingway, noted the timing of the event made the optics even worse. “The WHCA and Met Gala just a few days apart, right after today’s economic news. Just absolutely perfect optics for all involved,” Hemingway tweeted.
