Royal aides reportedly met last week to discuss whether to strip Britain’s Prince Harry of his remaining royal titles after he lashed out at his now-estranged family in a shocking interview with an American podcast, “Armchair Expert.”
As The Daily Wire previously reported, Prince Harry, who, along with his wife Meghan Markle, quit royal duties just over a year ago and moved to the United States, told actor Dax Shepard’s podcast that he was suffering from a form of “genetic pain and suffering” and suggested that his father, Prince Charles, and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, had propagated a cycle of abuse. Prince Harry claimed to Shepard that he moved his family to North America to escape trauma, which he discovered through therapy.
“He’s treated me the way that he was treated,” Harry said of his father Prince Charles, in the exchange. “There’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway. We as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say, ‘You know what? That happened to me. I’m going to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.’”
Prince Harry went on to suggest that Prince Charles had, in turn, been abused or neglected by his own parents.
“I never saw it. I never knew about it. And then suddenly I started to piece it all together and go, ‘Okay, so this is where he went to school. This is what happened.’ I know this bit about his life,” Harry said of his father. “I also know that’s connected to his parents. So that means that he’s treated me the way that he was treated, which means how can I change that for my own kids?”
The interview closely followed another blockbuster exchange with Oprah Winfrey, which saw Harry’s wife, Meghan, suggest to the iconic talk show host that the royal family was racist, that her son Archie was denied a title because of his skin tone, and that palace aides had refused her treatment for suicidal thoughts while pregnant.
Now, according to the Daily Mail’s palace sources, aides are considering stripping Prince Harry of any remaining royal titles he kept when he separated from the British royal family back in February of last year, given that he clearly wants a clean break from his relatives and the royal institution.
“In a withering condemnation of the couple’s continued attacks on the Royals, senior courtiers told The Mail on Sunday of a growing sense of ‘bewilderment and betrayal,’” the outlet said. “They are particularly incensed over Harry’s ‘shocking’ criticism of Prince Charles’s parenting skills and, by implication, those of the Queen and the late Prince Philip.”
“The Duke of Sussex has now spent a significant amount of time emphasizing that he’s no different to anyone else and attacking the institution which he says caused him so much pain,” the Daily Mail reported. “There is a growing feeling that if you dislike the institution that much, you shouldn’t have the titles.”
One aide suggested that Harry and Meghan’s titles be placed into “abeyance,” stripping them of the ability to use the titles now but preserving them in case their situation changes.
“They should put the titles into abeyance, so they still exist but are not used, like they agreed to do with their HRHs,” the palace source told the Daily Mail. Harry and Meghan agreed to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but not as “His/Her Royal Highness,” as is typical of members of the royal family who are in direct line to the throne. At the time of “Megxit,” they were also stripped of their royal patronages and other titles, per Deadline.
Although it appears Prince Harry is trying to embrace the United States as his new home, Americans are not as enthusiastic as the former British royal.
In the same interview, Prince Harry attacked the First Amendment, calling it “bonkers” that the Constitution protects a right to free speech and a right to a free press. Americans quickly responded on social media, telling the Prince to “go home.”
