Former presidential adviser Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Monday that President Joe Biden and the Democrats see the surge of illegal immigrants at the southern border as an opportunity and are deliberately encouraging the situation as a means of creating a permanent electoral majority.
“You’re calling it a problem, I’m not sure (Biden) sees it as a problem,” Morris said on “American Agenda.”
“He’s sees at something he’s got to address, a public relations problem. But the Democrats basically see illegal immigration as an opportunity. It’s not that they can’t find a way to stop it, they want it, because they want the votes.”
Morris, who was an adviser to both then-presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, was referring to the recent election bill passed by House Democrats, which he noted would allow convicted felons to vote and reduce the time for immigrants to become citizens and eligible to vote.
“I think Biden is deliberately encouraging illegal immigration,” he added. “I think he’s willing to take the flak for a few months of people at the border and maybe even kids in cages and stuff, because his goal is to create, increase dramatically, the number of illegal immigrants in the U.S.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that 100,441 people tried to cross the border illegally in February, the first full month of the Biden administration, a 28% increase over January. More than 9,500 unaccompanied children came to the border in February, a 62% jump above January.
Biden signed a half dozen executive orders on his first day in office on Jan. 20 reversing Trump administration’s immigration policies, which Republicans say have resulted in the dramatic increase of those attempting to cross the border illegally.
One of the orders was to place a moratorium on deportations.
“So, the big incentive is, once you make it over the border, you’re there,” Morris said. “Nobody’s ever throwing you out. You’ve got it. You’ve got it made. Don’t think this isn’t deliberate.
“It becomes the new normal. And that is really what Biden and Democrats want. This is part of their strategy…to so bias and rig the elections that the opposition can never win.”
Morris said that even if the Biden administration is able to erect facilities to be able to temporarily house the illegal immigrants captured, it has no intention to discourage more from coming.
“This is not a problem that Biden hasn’t been able to solve that Trump was,” he said. “This is a problem that Trump ended and Biden is causing to start again.
“(Immigrants) have been waiting in the wings for four years while Trump shut it down. And now Biden has opened up again. This was a problem caused by the Democrats, and Trump solved it, and now it’s unsolved because of Biden.”
