Family and friends have been mourning the loss of a Connecticut state trooper who was killed in floodwaters from Hurricane Ida. Sergeant Brian Mohl died early on Thursday morning after he was swept away in heavy flooding in Woodbury, which lies just southwest of Hartford.
Mohl had called for back up after his vehicle was submerged in water. First responders found the sergeant in a river hours later and treated him at the scene before rushing him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“He was one of the senior sergeants on the state police, well respected,” one officer expressed. “It’s just a tragedy.”
It is with sadness that I can confirm that the @CT_STATE_POLICE trooper who passed away today is Sgt. Brian Mohl, a 26-year veteran of the CSP who was assigned to Troop L.

Sergeant Mohl served on the force for 26 years and flags have been flown at half-staff at government buildings across Connecticut in his honor.
