An innovative exhibit providing art enthusiasts with a brand new way to experience the works of Vincent van Gogh comes to the U.S. for the first time this June.

Immersive Van Gogh is an interactive art installation that has gained international fame. The U.S. debut will be in New York City on June 10. Spectators will gain insight on the history of Van Gogh and his life as an artist.  The exhibit will feature projection technology and music to animate scenes from the works of the Dutch Impressionist painter.

Impressionism is a school of art that seeks to highlight the sensory experience associated with particular moments, something the exhibit’s organizers are trying to put front and center by placing the viewer inside the artwork. Creative director David Korns has shared his goals for the exhibit, explaining his plan to allow viewers a closer look at how the featured artist still connects with modern crowds. Interactive elements and secret spaces have been added to the NYC exhibit for individuals to gain an exciting and more personal experience.

Producer of the exhibit, Svetlana Dvoretsky, described the immersive art as pushing the confines on how art should be observed. The boom of digital and multimedia art has enabled individuals to feel as though they are a piece of the exhibit.

“This is a story, it’s somewhere between a film and a concert, an installation. And you’re as a spectator, unlike in the theater where you sit back and watch what’s happening, you’re in it, you’re inside the paintings, you’re inside of Van Gogh mind.”

Immersive Van Gogh will also tour other cities across the U.S. this summer, including Chicago, Los Angeles and Detroit.
